House Mouse Challenge #36 - Gatefold

Happy House Mouse Monday everyone.... Over at House Mouse and Friends, Janneke has challenged us to make a gatefold card. Here is a link to Splitcoast Stampers gatefold tutorial.

This is what I came up with...

I stamped my adorable House Mouse image "Birthday Cupcake HMJR1007" on whisper white with Stazon Jet Black, twice. Water coloured images. I cut out one of the images. On the bottom image I sponged chocolate chip and creamy caramel around image. On the top (cut out) image I clear embossed the candles. Adhered the top image. Used the labels two nestability to cut out image. Cut out a larger chocolate chip label 2 nesty to mat image. The CC nesty was to big for my card so I cut it down to fit. Attached the 3 pink brads. The base card measures 4" x 5". I cut out a piece of chocolate chip 8" long and 5" wide. I scored lines @ 2" and 6" on the 8" side. I made the two front panels, sponged and stitched edges.

A big thank you to Pat Smethers for the yummy paper - "Cupcake Dream - Swirlicious by Lasting Impressions). Attached the HM image with only one of the pink brads - this is so the image panel will move. Attached the three pink candles with glue dots. the image panel slides under the candle wicks to hold the gatefold closed.

Above is a view of the card open.

Above you can see how the image panel slides up.

Above is another view of the card open and a look at the inside.

I hope you can join us over at House Mouse and Friends. Just remember that you need to have 1 House Mouse, Happy Hopper or Gruffies image on your card or project. Please make sure to check out what the other DT have made to inspire you.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Stamping

CC215, TLC217, Gesso'd colour challenge

For this card I combined two challenges from Splitcoast Stampers - the Technique Challenge TLC217 - "Gesso" and the colour challenge CC215 " pink pirouette (pretty in pink), Rose Red and Basic Grey". I did not have the Gesso product - what I did was use some of my acrylic white paint and brushed it overtop of a page from a magazine. I let it dry and then stamped my flower image in versamark ink, stamped on top of the magazine and then clear embossed. I sponged over the image/page with pretty in pink and then sponged around the image with rose red. Matted with basic grey and then pretty in pink. Sewed around edges. Main card is pretty in pink, next is basic grey. the dp is from a Brenda Walton "K & Company" called Sweet Talk. Did a double wandering stitch around edges. Added the plaid ribbon (rak from America) the metal corners and garden tool charms. The flower panel is popped up. The flower image is from Hero Arts called Silhouette corners.

Memories of Memphis

I made this card/mini scrapbook for my Daughter "Kristy" and her family. Last week they had to have their beloved dog "Memphis" put to sleep. Memphis was a wonderful pet and friend to everyone. I wanted to make a sympathy card for them and this is what I came up with. I changed a colour photo into sepia. Matted image with white and black. Main card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 kraft. I used the Creating Keepsakes dp - I tore the paper in half and sponged edges with close to cocoa. Sewed around edges. Added the Daisy D hardware hinges. Sponged close to cocoa on the chipboard letter. All layers are popped up.
For the inside, there are 5 pages. First one is the sentiment and then four blank pages. I stitched down the left side then added the large eyelets. I stamped the paws in close to cocoa. Tied the little book closed with polka dot ribbon. I am very pleased with how this turned out. My daughter and her husband absolutely loved it.

House Mouse Challenge #34 - Springtime

Happy House Mouse Monday everyone.... This weeks challenge over at House Mouse & Monday Friends is hosted by Carolyn - she has chosen SPRINGTIME as the theme. Please interpret what spring means to you or what comes to mind when SPRINGTIME is mentioned. I always think of spring when the flowers start blooming. Where I live spring has arrived, my garden is blooming with beautiful tulips, daffodils, blue bells and the trees are in bloom (my car was covered in pollen yesterday - my black car was yellow - I feel sorry for all those people who suffer from allergies at this time of year) .

The stamp I used is called "Bunny Buffet - HMOR1083". Thanks America for this adorable image - it was perfect for today's challenge. I water coloured the image with Stampin up reinkers. Matted with vanilla and black nestability rectangles. The floral dp is from Making Memories, Rust dp is from ATC wildflowers. The large yellow flower is from Stampin Up - Embrace Life.

This week we are sponsored by

and this prize is this adorable stamp called "SPRING CLEANING"

Hopefully you will be able to come and join us over at House Mouse & Friends. All you need to do is us one House Mouse, Happy Hopper or Gruffies image on your card or project. Priceless Memories - House Mouse Challenge #33, use Multiple images

Happy Monday everyone. Over at the House Mouse Monday Challenge blog, one of the Design team members " America" has challenged us to use multiple images on our card/project. There are several possibilities for this challenge - Take one image and use it multiple times or take one image and separate it into several sections or use a variety of different images on your card. America also has 5 adorable House Mouse stamps to give away to the lucky winner, so make a card/project and post your card here. This is what I came up with.... (on my card - I used a variety of different images) I really wanted to use the "Say Cheese" stamp - the little mouse taking pictures, I thought about it for a while, then I remembered I have a collage style picture frame and I really liked the layout, so my card is fashioned after the collage frame. I stamped all the images (Mouse Bounce, Poppin good birthday, Perfect Fit and Together under the Moon) on whisper white, using stazon jet black ink, then I cut out only the parts I wanted, lightly water coloured them in going gray. For the main focal image (Say Cheese) - I stamped it three times. I drew in the floor and walls on the bottom image, water coloured all images. Cut out the camera and mouse from one and just the mouse from the other, layered over main image. Added the photo corners and brads. Punched holes down the right side and laced the ribbon. Added the metal sentiment. I think this looks like a cover for a scrapbook album.... what do you think?

Please go on over to the House Mouse Monday blog and check out all the other fabulous DT cards/projects. If you can join us, please make sure you upload your cards on the Blog.

LSC215, SC223, Cupcakes Forever

Happy Friday everyone... for this card I combined two challenges from Splitcoast Stampers - this weeks sketch challenge #SC223 and today's limited supply challenge #LSC215 - Triple Play - use only three layers plus the base card, only three colours plus one neutral colour (black, brown, vanilla or white), and 3 Elements (focal points) - bonus points for three images stamped on one panel. My three layers are the Stampin Up striped red dp, pink panel and image panel, plus my white base card. Colours - red, pink and brown, plus the white is my neutral colour. Focal points, cupcake image, ribbon and the sentiment/clip embellishment. I stamped the Studio G cupcake onto whisper white, then again on the striped dp and again on the pink card stock. Cut out the cupcake wrapper from the striped dp, cut out the pink flower. I clear embossed the chocolate cupcake icing, attached the cupcake wrapper and the flower and brad embellishment. On the pink panel I stamped mini cupcakes in versa mark ink. I also used my SU chocolate chip marker and went around the edges of the dp, pink panel, image and sentiment panels. Used my Stampin Up border punch on the red and pink panels, pierced holes in the scallops and down the left side of the card. I also scored 6 vertical lines on the left side of base card, Added the ribbon. Stamped sentiment on WW, pierced holes and added the bull dog clip. FS113, casing Julie (justwritedesigns)

I really wanted to case one of the adorable dresses Julie made. She is this weeks Featured Stamper over on the Splitcoast Stampers Blog. Julie used this pattern from Paper Craft Magazine. My Mother-in-law Sharron Rose was visiting from Princeton, B.C. and we wanted to make some Easter cards for our Grand children. Sharron made the sweet little green dress and the cowboy outfit. For the cowboy outfit she just cut the bottom part into pants and then dressed it up. I made the little blue dress with the flowers. I still need to make two more little dresses - better get at it, only two more days until Easter.

House Mouse Challenge#32 - Something Sweet

Happy Monday everyone..... Over at House Mouse and Friends Monday Blog - the challenge today is to have something SWEET on your card. It could be from a candy wrapper, could be the sentiment and a cake, chocolates, candy, fruit - whatever ans long as it is sweet. On my card the sweet is the Ice cream cone.... Thanks America for another sweet image... I coloured the image with prismacolour pencil crayons and gamsol. Clear embossed the candles and little party hats. My sentiment is a Rub-on. Added diamond stickles to the orange sherbet ice cream. Matted the image with Stampin Up brocade blue and pumpkin pie scalloped rectangle (nestability). Tied on the blue sheer ribbon (thanks America) onto the silver spiral clip. For the pinwheel background quilt block panel - I used Basic Grey dp called Oh Baby! Boy and white cuttlebug embossed numbers. I cut out two 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square of each, then I cut them in half on the diagonal. Made the pinwheel design by alternating the colours - make sure you get the pinwheel pattern.. Matted on brocade blue and pumpkin pie. I stitched around the edges and down the middle (both side) on the diagonals. Added the beautiful blue and green ribbon. Main image panel is up on pop dots... FS113, WT212, OCCC, Who's your Daddy ?

For this card I combined three challenges, today's featured stamper #FS113 - justwritedesigns (Julie) - she has a fabulous gallery - please check it out -and last Thursday's Ways to Use It WT212 - Foiled Again over at Splitcoast Stampers and today's challenge on Our Creative Corners Blog - Easter theme. I cased this card of Julie's - "No legged Chicken".
I stamped the Rooster image at Pat Smethers while visiting her last month - thanks Pat. I received the little House Mouse image from America a couple of months ago - thanks America. I water coloured the images, cut out the House Mouse image and placed in front of Mr. Rooster. Clear embossed the roosters beak and the Easter Egg.
Sponged edges with chocolate chip, matted with black and sewed edges. Main card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 white card stock. I recycled a foil pie pan - ran the foil through the cuttlebug with the distressed lines folder - it broke up a bit as you can see. I placed some tape on the black panel, stuck on the foil and sewed foil down. Matted the panel with SU really rust. Used a circle nestability for my sentiment panel and More Mustard card stock. Stamped on "Hello" sentiment - this is from Stampin Up - Hedgehog Happiness set. Sponged edge with more mustard, attached with black brads. Used the SU window punch for the two more mustard strips on the lower right corner - sponged edges and attached with black brads. I recycled some wood shaves from and old gift basket - thought it looked like straw and used two punched leaf sprigs - given to me from Pat Smethers :). Main image panel and sentiment are up on pop dots.
I had to chuckle at this card.... it sure does look like Mr. Rooster is asking the little mouse - "Hey there - Who's your Daddy????
